The Relatives Came
This tale about a big family piling in their car to visit family far away is heartwarming. The illustrations are warm, expressive and silly and the wording is full of small town charm. It makes you wish you were right there with everybody on the pages, eating sandwiches, taking turns around the table, finding a place to sleep and, of course, hugging. It stirs in you the fun, positive memories you might have from road tripping with family, and helps you laugh at some of the things that didn't seem delightful at the time. What I love most is that it illustrates, literally!, the effort it takes to stay close to family that's far away. It shows that it's worth the effort; it feels good, it's helpful and it's fun!
