Even Firefighters Hug Their Moms
Throughout this story a very imaginative little boy is so engrossed in pretending to be a firefighter, a police man, a train conductor, etc...that he doesn't have time to stop and hug his mom when she asks. The greatest part of this book, for me, is the magnificent illustrations. They beautifully depict little kid creativity at its finest, showing dozens of household objects transformed into occupational tools in the mind's eye of this bright little boy. They are so realistic that there should be no doubt in any child's mind that they, too, can make ordinary items from around their house wonderful additions to their make-believe play. As a bonus, this little guy includes his little sister in all of his "work!"
