I Took the Moon for a Walk

I Took the Moon for a Walk

When I'm choosing books for our stack at bed time, I often choose books with text that lends itself to a slow read that is lulling, books with images of a night sky and books that picture at least one sleeping child at the end! I Took the Moon for a Walk has all of these features and it's a book I pick often.  The illustrations are unique and I just love the shadow play in the book and the beautiful poetry of the words on each page.  What a fun concept, to take the moon for a walk...it really does feel like the moon stays right with you when you're walking at night, doesn't it?  Children always respond positively to a story that depicts a child with this kind of strength or power in the world and hardly anything is more commanding than taking the moon by the hand!  This is a gentle, soothing story; a perfect read before a good long rest.
