What a Party
This is a darling story about an irresistible frog that has more enthusiasm for his Grandpa's birthday than any frog has ever had before. He's excited, enthusiastic and adorable. I love how this character carefully plans a very special gift for his beloved Grandpa, putting so much of himself into every part of it. I like how this story includes a large family gathering together in loving celebration, each doing their part to make it a great day for their special someone. When the party ends and the day is done, this little frog is so terribly let down that the fun has passed. Remember back to that feeling as a child of a day being so wonderful that it just can't be over yet? As adults we
it's going to be over but dusk can feel like it came out of nowhere to child- or a frog- sometimes it's the last thing they expect. Frog has a friend that comforts him and walks him through the normal routine of his evening. Frog realizes that it feels good to be home; that there is satisfaction in normalcy, too. A great lesson for all of us.
