Goodnight Moon 1 2 3
by Margaret Wise Brown is a favorite first book in many households and often the first book that families read routinely to their very young children. This sequel of sorts is such a fun addition to a home library of children's books because it is familiar even before the first page is turned! We have this in a board book version so it was sturdy enough to read when we were first introducing the concept of counting and it was integral in helping them practice one to one counting. The pages with objects to count are simple and the pictures are identical and spread far enough apart to minimize confusion. A chubby little finger can learn to say one number per item they touch with enough repetition and this book is so bright and simple to read that sitting down with your child and going through it again and again is desirable. This would be a great first birthday gift for any little ones in your life! This book is every bit as deserving as its predecessor of becoming a classic in every household.
