This is a fun book about a Granny that travels through a river, over a mountain and across a desert for the chance to play bluegrass for her grandson "who went wiggly, jiggly, all-around giggly, and tip over tumble for bluegrass music." Now, I'll tell you that we love bluegrass music in our house and it is our dinner music pretty much every night. I still think this story has broad appeal, even if you don't regularly kick off your shoes and throw 'em on the floor and dance in the kitchen 'til the morning light... It is a magical tale of the lengths (unrealistic in this case, but still!) that devoted grandparents will go to for a chance to love on their grandchildren. This banjo-playing Granny has a grandson across the country that has fallen hard and fast for bluegrass music and nothing can stop her from soaking him up at this stage! The text is lyrical and the images are soft and comforting. Share this with the little ones you love and they will know a little bit better just how big love can be.
