Books worth reading.

Time and again.

Roscoe Riley Rules

Roscoe Riley Rules

Beginning chapter books for young readers are difficult to find. They need to be engaging, appropriate and just right in length.  When I found the Roscoe Riley Rules series by Katherine Applegate, it was exactly what I was looking for!

The Roscoe Riley books are not too long, the vocabulary is just right for readers gaining confidence (not a lot of big words to trip a new reader up) and there are small illustrations throughout, which breaks up the reading and helps keep the story moving forward for young kids.

Young readers will find 1st Grader Roscoe Riley hilarious; these books are very funny without being over the top inappropriate. The characters are endearing and the stories are compelling.

I think kids can definitely imagine themselves thinking how Roscoe does in some situations and they can definitely imagine some situations from the books playing out in their own families or classrooms.

There are 7 books in this series and I hope more will be added; these books really do perfectly fill the niche for young chapter book readers.

**The Roscoe Riley Rules audio books, narrated by Jared Goldsmith, are amazing! This young actor  just blew us away with his performance at a young age reading these great stories. I highly recommend checking out the books on cd for a road trip or even your school commute.**
