Books worth reading.

the oK book

Amy Krouse Rosenthal is a talented children's book author; her stories for kids are always a big hit in our house.  Amy has a special way of sharing important lessons in fun and simple ways.  I love that her story ideas are both original and timeless!

In the oK book, children are introduced to a character built from the word "ok." Such a creative idea and really fun when you open this book with a child for the first time.  They smile as they realize how turning the word on its side makes a simple little person they could draw themselves!!

Every page turn walks you through a list of different things that oK enjoys doing. Fishing, swimming, skipping, climbing, hiding, diving… all activities children hear and read about and many they have experience trying themselves.

The pictures are entertaining, the story is succinct but the best part of this book is the very clear message to young readers that trying things is fun, whether or not you're great at them! Finding out what your 'thing' is, what you can become excellent at, is a process that takes time and can be enjoyable.  A must-read for all little ones that aren't perfect.  ;)
