Books worth reading.

Time and again.

Gooney Bird Greene

Gooney Bird Greene

Gooney Bird Greene became one of our family's new favorite characters when we

discovered these audio books on our library shelf last summer.

Narrator Lee Adams does a fabulous job bringing this unusual, spunky character,

and her second grade classmates, to life.

Gooney Bird is so interesting as a main character, full of great stories and wise beyond her years. What's wonderful about each book in this series is Gooney's influence

on her class at Watertown Elementary.

These books are immensely entertaining, for children and adults!

We laughed right along with our kids at the funny,

tender ways Gooney Bird has of getting everyone on the same page.

Humor isn't even the best part of this great series by Lois Lowry!

She seamlessly incorporates language arts lessons in each book;

kids can learn so much while reading or listening to these titles,

without even realizing the valuable strategies they're picking up.

If you're looking for some great read-alouds for early elementary school students,

these are hands down my first pick! The narrator on the audio books makes this

series on cd the perfect soundtrack for your school commute or next road trip.

However you choose to experience Gooney Bird, books or cds, you won't be disappointed!
