We picked up
at a Scholastic Book Fair after reading the enticing description
on the back cover. We were so impressed with this story!
It was thrilling from start to finish, a great read aloud.
There is so much action in this chapter book. It is very suspenseful and totally unpredictable.
Jeffrey Salane's story idea is refreshingly original: main character M. Freeman is sent
to a school, shrouded in mystery, that trains the world's best criminals.
Readers are kept guessing who's on the wrong side of the law and who isn't!
One really intriguing element of this book is the art history that is woven into the plot;
it is done seamlessly and adds a really interesting layer to the story.
is complicated enough to really entertain all readers, but not so intense or insane as to put off lower elementary students if they are hearing the book as a read aloud. This is a great book to gift avid readers, as they likely have never heard of it. It is a sure-fire hit with kids that devour good books!
